Abstract

The excretion of drugs by milk from humans and animals has been reviewed by Reed (1908), DÉchavanne (1909), Kolda (1926), Joachimovits (1929), Dreyfus-Sée (1934), Sapeika (1947, 1959), Burn (1947/1948), Albright et al. (1961), Marth (1961), Reusse (1961), Knowles (1965), and Rasmussen (1966a). The mechanism of excretion has been elucidated in only a small number of papers. Those describing the mammary excretion of weak electrolytes will be discussed in this chapter.
