Abstract
Second-order rate constants are reported for the reactions of the ammoniated electron with triphenylmethane, dimethyl sulfide, diethyl sulfide, imidazole, pyrrole, dimethyl sulfoxide, dl-norleucine, thiophene and pyridine. The second-order rate constants were found to vary from 5 × 105 to 6.5 × 10−2M−1sec−1 while activation energies for the reactions in which present data allowed determination, were invariant at 4–6 kcal/mole. The kinetic behavior of the ammoniated electron is compared with results obtained for the hydrated electron.
