Improved 5- and 6-Node Plate Elements for Adaptively Refined Mesh Generation

Summary

In this study, the developement of 5- and 6-node transition plate bending elements was presented. These elements are used for adaptive mesh generation where the steep stress gradient exists. The overestimated shear stiffness in these elements was cured effectively by addition of nonconforming displacement modes.
