Abstract

To eliminate the shortcomings created by finite element method and the method of boundary collocation in the computation of the stress intensity factors of a finite plate with internal crack, a new method, i.e. complex variable-variational method, is advanced in this paper, where the exact whole field solution in form of power series to an internally cracked plate is derived by the complex variable method developed by Muskhelishviliand the unknown constants in the series are determined by minimum potential energy principle.
