Abstract

I have come here from Bern, a wonderful trip on this spring morning, and I am very pleased to welcome you to Wolfs-berg on behalf of the Federal Government, especially the Swiss Federal Department of the Interior and its head, Federal Councillor Flavio Cotti. As you know, Switzerland is a federal state with 26 counties or cantons, all having competence in public health matters. At the federal level we are “only” concerned with health protection, which is mainly based on federal legislation.
