Development of a Revegetation Programme for Copper and Sulphide-Bearing Mine Wastes in the Humid Tropics

  • Chapter
Environmental Management of Solid Waste

Abstract

Revegetation of mine wastes is an ecologically desirable component of post-mine rehabilitation. It is also often a legal requirement. Amongst other things it is useful in stabilizing the waste against both water and wind erosion, in increasing the biological productivity of the spoiled area and in reducing water pollution.
