Zusammenfassung
Die großen methodischen Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der Zellfraktionierung haben dazu geführt, daß heute isolierte Zellen oder Zellorganellen auch für viele physiologische Fragestellungen herangezogen werden. Die experimentellen Vorteile dieser gegenüber dem intakten Organismus mehr oder minder stark vereinfachten Systeme ist offenkundig und haben viele wichtige experimentelle Ansätze erst möglich gemacht (z. B. die Untersuchung des photosynthetischen Stoffwechsels ohne Störung durch andere Stoffwechselreaktionen). Andererseits muß man bei Experimenten mit isolierten Zellfraktionen immer damit rechnen, daß die hiermit gewonnenen Resultate nicht notwendigerweise die in-vivo-Situation korrekt widerspiegeln.
