Zusammenfassung

Seit der Beschreibung einer „necrotizing sialometaplasia“ am Gaumen durch Abrams et al. (1973) liegen über 200 weitere Beobachtungen des Schrifttums über analoge Läsionen der großen und kleinen Speicheldrüsen vor (Brannon et al. 1991; Seifert et al. 1984; Rehm 1986; Makek u. Sailer 1985). Die nekrotisierende Sialometaplasie wurde lange Zeit im deutschen Schrifttum nicht beachtet, obwohl bereits Ribbert im Jahr 1904 über derartige Speicheldrüsenveränderungen nach Unterbindung der Ausführungsgänge unter dem Titel „Über tumorähnliche Epithelwucherungen in Speicheldrüse und Leber“ berichtet hatte. Von Donath (1979 a) wurde der Terminus „Speicheldrüseninfarkt“ geprägt, weil es sich um eine vaskulär-ischämische Speicheldrüsenveränderung handelt.
