Abstract

Purification of viable cells by flow cytometric cell sorting, initiated in the mid sixties, has become standard procedure in a variety of research fields. Single cell suspensions, which are stained with fluorochromes to distinguish desired from undesired cells, can be sorted into two purified populations. Sorts can be performed under sterile conditions and usually the viability of the sorted cells is excellent.
