Zusammenfassung
Wenn hartnäckige Schmerzen durch medikamentöse Therapie nicht gelindert werden können, muß ein chirurgischer Eingriff in Betracht gezogen werden. Da es viele Therapieverfahren gibt, läßt sich keine all-gemeingültige Richtlinie aufstellen. Spezialisten auf dem Gebiet der Schmerztherapie stimmen lediglich darin überein, daß der chirurgi-sche Eingriff gezielt auf die jeweilige Art von Schmerz gerichtet sein muß. Bei der Auswahl des Verfahrens dominieren die persönlichen Erfahrungen auf einem speziellen Gebiet, wie z.B. der Mikrochirurgie, der stereotaktischen Chirurgie oder der Implantatation von Geräten zur Schmerzbehandlung.
