Erfassung der Symptome und kausale Verknüpfung mit der angeschuldigten Medikation einerseits, Abschätzung der Inzidenz für verschiedene Anwendungsbereiche sowie Gewichtung, d. h. eine Bewertung der Schwere der Nebenwirkung, sind nach wie vor ungelöste Probleme bei der Forschung und Beschreibung unerwünschter Arzneimittelwirkungen (UAW).
