Abstract

The basic concept of density matrices is introduced. It is demonstrated how reduced density matrices relate theoretical scattering amplitudes to experimental observables. A computer program is presented to calculate various observables from bilinear products of scattering amplitudes for impact excitation of (quasi) one-electron atoms.
