Part of the Adaptations of Desert Organisms book series (DESERT ORGAN.)

The previous chapters have been dedicated to the reactive growth of individual species of plants in desert and coastal sand dunes. However, the relationships among species in the same habitat and community may tell us much about their role in the vegetation and the environment. In the following chapter an attempt will be made to expand the temporal and spatial dimensions of Chapter 5. Examples have been selected to represent diverse types of ecosystems.
