Abstract

The first method of imaging of the uterine cavity and tube was roentgen hysterosalpingography. Although modern techniques that do not require radiation exposure, such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and hysterosalpingosonography, have tended to usurp the place of hysterosalpingography (HSG), there are still some situations in which HSG is indicated. For certain diagnostic purposes, such as precise localization of uterine tube blockages, or imaging of the uterine cavity in cases of uterine change or anomalies, HSG can give valuable diagnostic information.
