Den folgenden Überlegungen seien drei Sätze der Vergangenheit und eine Szene aus der babylonischen Medizin vorangestellt, um daran zu erinnern, daß bereits die Geschichte der Medizin mit der Notfallmedizin substantiell verbunden ist.
