Abstract

Episodes of perioperative myocardial ischaemia (PMI) occur in 18%-74% of non-cardiac surgery patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) [1]. Patients with PMI have a higher risk of suffering adverse cardiac outcome postoperatively. Early diagnosis and treatment of PMI may improve outcome in these patients. Cardiac troponin I is a new marker for myocardial cell damage, and the aim of this study was to investigate its diagnostic value in detecting PMI.
