Abstract

To protect the environment it is necessary to clean waste gases, reducing the emission of toxic impurities. During past years considerable efforts have been made to develop plasma methods for removal of pollutant components. The source of non-equilibrium plasma operates in a waste gas flow and produces chemically active species. These species initiate the chain of reactions in which the pollutant molecules participate, and as a result gaseous or condensed non-toxic components arise. The investigation of the time evolution of the reactive gas systems is very important for these purposes. Software applications for solving the problems of removing toxic compounds in the gas flow have been developed. These include a chemical reaction database and programs for serving it, program for initial preparation of data, a solver unit, a program for tracing and controlling the set of operating equations, a program of reduced kinetics, and tools for representing results. The integrated user environment allows one to operate with all these parts of the system.
