Advances in Atmospheric Remote Sensing with Lidar

Abstract

A large-scale European Network of lidar systems has been recently established over Europe (HCM Lidar Network) in the framework of the Human Capital and Mobility (HCM) Program. The main goal of the Lidar Network focuses on the establishment of a close scientific and technical cooperation in the field of laser remote sensing for environmental and industrial monitoring of toxic and Global Change related trace gases. The main scientific objectives and some selected measurements obtained, are presented and discussed, as well as the perspectives of the Lidar Network.
