Abstract
An algorithm for filling smoothly n-sided holes in free form surfaces is presented. The solution is selected from a linear space of geometrically smooth splines by minimizing the thin plate energy. Compared to standard techniques, the efficiency of the boundary data approximation is improved significantly on using the recently developed orthogonality relations for cardinal B-splines in Sobolev spaces.
