Diabatic Surface Boundary Layers
The distribution of the mean wind and mean concentration of passive properties in neutral surface layers has already been considered in Chap. 3. With the use of the energy equations of the last chapter, it is now possible to extend this discussion to layers that are being heated or cooled from below. We shall also consider the vertical distribution of mean temperature, which in neutral layers is constrained to have an adiabatic lapse rate.
