Zusammenfassung
Eine zunehmende Anzahl von Regierungsbehörden (z.B. in Holland, Kanada und Dänemark) und von internationalen Organisationen (z.B. OECD, UNEP, Weltbank) sind daran interessiert, in Regionen und Nationen die Umsetzung einer dauerhaft umwelt- gerechten Entwicklung zu überwachen. Dieser Beitrag diskutiert die Möglichkeiten und die Schwierigkeiten, die mit einer Umsetzung der Vorstellung des Umweltnutzungsraumes (environmental utilisation space) verbunden sind. Dabei geht es um die Entwicklung einer schlüssigen Folge aufeinander abgestimmter Dauerhaftigkeitsindikatoren (sustainability indicators), die potentiell zur Ermittlung dieser Leistungs- fähigkeit dienen können.
