Part of the book series: Adverse Effects of Herbal Drugs ((HERBAL DRUGS,volume 3))

Abstract

The genus of Corynanthe belongs to the Rubiaceae. The principal species of medicinal interest is Corynanthe pachyceras K.Schum., also known as Pseudocinchona africana A.Chev., Pseudocinchona. pachyceras (K.Schum.) A.Chev. and Pausinystalia pachyceras (Schum.) De Wild. It serves as source plant of Pseudocinchonae africanae cortex [1-4].

Commercial yohimbe bark samples sometimes contain considerable amounts of this bark [5].
