Abstract
The exact mathematical check of whether the distribution is truly normal is accomplished by means of mathematical tests. Examples are the x2 test (or Chisquare test, see Sect. 5.2) or the Kolmogoroff-Smirnov test, although the latter will not be discussed in this book. However, an approximate graphical test is commonly used in practice. An even simpler estimate, which is described in Chapter 18.2.1.1.2, is sometimes used to test geochemical exploration data.
