Abstract
What role do the United Nations today play at the point where environment and security intersect? Can reform of the United Nations help strengthen its role in this issue? What need is there for institutional action to effectively ensure that environmental problems do not become a threat to security? This discussion paper aims to go into these questions in more detail. Its perspective is that of a practician who, as a representative of her country, has for years been involved in efforts to reform the UN in diverse UN bodies.
