Bereits vor Jahrhunderten war bekannt, daß eine Größenzunahme innerer Organe wie der Leber und der Milz Krankheitsbedeutung hat. Die Hepatosplenomegalie ist auch heute noch häufig ein erstes Symptom einer ernsten Erkrankung.
