Abstract
The oral cavity includes lips, labial and buccal mucosa, floor of the mouth, tongue, palate, tonsillar pillars, and gingivae. There are many different diseases of the oral cavity that can only be diagnosed through microscopic examination; however, the clinical appearance of oral lesions can give the clinician a reliable provisional diagnosis on which to plan further management of the patient. Oral diagnosis is based upon a close examination and careful study of the individual lesions, their location, extent, and their pattern of evolution [1–3].
