Abstract
The major compound of ecstasy (XTC) is N-methyl-3, 4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDMA), which has become a popular drug in the dance, rave, and techno-scene. This compound has unique psychoactive properties; it works as a stimulant and induces feelings of empathy. There is a growing list of severe side effects in ecstasy users leading to major medical problems, e.g., depression, hyperthermia, hypoglycemia, liver damage, and rhabdomyolysis. The skin may also be involved.
