Abstract

Glaucoma is one of the main causes of transplant failure. Elevated IOP which has not been controlled preoperatively is a contraindication for penetrating keratoplasty. Postoperatively, different forms of glaucoma and mechanisms of intraocular pressure must be differentiated:

  1. 1.

Transient rise in pressure in the first days and weeks after the operation.

  2. 2.

    Chronic secondary glaucoma.

  3. 3.

Glaucoma in combination with inflammatory changes such as immune reactions and herpes.

  4. 4.

    Glaucoma in combination with steroids.
