Abstract

Complications following penetrating keratoplasty are caused by various pathomechanisms. Depending on preoperative diagnosis, both immunological and non-immunological problems are of importance. It is possible for them to occur simultaneously and mutually interact. Similar clinical pictures require precise and occasionally difficult differential diagnostic consideration. The resulting therapy, if begun early, may be crucial with regard to the course and final prognosis of the disorder.
