Zusammenfassung

Über 98% der malignen Neubildungen der Prostata sind Adenokarzinome. Ab dem 50. Lebensjahr wachsen die Prävalenz und die Mortalität nahezu exponentiell an. In der BRD traten 1995 etwa 20 000 Neuerkrankungen auf. Ätiologisch bestehen ethnische und familiäre Risikofaktoren. Die Vasektomie im jugendlichen Alter (Jahre) stellt nach jüngsten Erkenntnissen kein erhöhtes Risiko dar (Kruger 1996).
