Abstract

Vesicoureteric reflux (VUR) is considered a significant factor for the development of progressive renal damage in the presence of urinary tract infection (UTI). Optimizing its detection is therefore of utmost importance for the identification of patients at risk. This necessitates a good knowledge of the pathogenesis, the circumstances of occurrence, and the natural history of the disease. In addition, the techniques used for demonstrating VUR must be used at their best and for good purposes. (Mouriquand 1995; Garin et al. 1998; Hellström and Jacobsson 1999; Jakobsson et al.1999).
