Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff „Perinatalschaden” wird vielfach voreilig und vereinfachend, außerdem definitorisch unterschiedlich verwendet. Der am engsten gefassten, letztlich klarsten Zeitbestimmung, nämlich des Zeitraums zwischen Beginn der Eröffnungswehen und der Entbindung des Neugeborenen (Schulte 1997) bzw. dem Ende der ersten Lebenswoche (Krägeloh-Mann et al. 1995a), steht der am weitesten gefasste Zeitraum zwischen der 28. SSW und dem 28. Lebenstag gegenüber (Stanley 1994). Die WHO hatte die Perinatalzeit als den Zeitraum zwischen 28. SSW und 7. Lebenstag bestimmt, doch hat sich diese Definition in der Literatur nicht durchgesetzt.
