Zusammenfassung
Das Auftreten von periprothetischen Infektionen stellt eine seltene, aber schwer wiegende Komplikation von Endoprothesen an Knie- und Hüftgelenk dar. Durch Verbesserung der Operationstechnik und eine perioperative Antibiotikaprophylaxe konnten die Infektraten deutlich gesenkt werden. Gegenwärtig werden die Infektionsraten am Knie mit etwa 2,5% und am Hüftgelenk mit ca. 1% angegeben [1,26] (siehe Kap. 1).
