Endoprotheseninfektionen werden mit Zunahme der Implantationshäufigkeit öfter beobachtet, ihre Häufigkeit wird in großen Zentren mit 1–2% angegeben [3, 5] (siehe Kap. 1). Einschränkungen der Immunabwehr gehen ebenfalls mit erhöhten Infektionsrisiken einher [7].
