Abstract

Flexion contracture in most knees is caused by tight collateral ligaments, so major alterations in bone resection should not be done until all ligaments have been balanced to acceptable tension. Specifically, the distal femur should not be overresected until all ligaments are balanced and all osteophytes are resected.
