Abstract
We have already seen many linear equations in our study of linear functions, and on a number of occasions we had to find their solution sets. In this chapter we will develop systematic methods for doing so. Throughout this chapter we will consider systems of linear equations where the number of equations and the number of variables will not necessarily be the same. This means that they may not have a single solution, as is often the case when this subject is discussed in high school texts.
