Zusammenfassung

Schlaf kann bei Patienten mit Lungenerkrankungen zur Verschlechterung des Gasaustausches und zu geminderter Schlafqualität führen. Bei Patienten mit chronisch obstruktiver Bronchitis entwickeln sich v a. im REM-Schlaf lang anhaltende Hypoxämien, deren Ursache in der Hypoventilation während dieser kritischen Phase des Schlafes zu sehen ist. Die reduzierte alveoläre Ventilation dürfte auf eine verminderte Chemosensitivität im REM-Schlaf zurückzuführen sein (Fleetham et al. 1982).
