Abstract
Under certain conditions density driven flow patterns can be relevant in desert sedimentary basins:
-
The basin is closed, i.e. there is no surface and no subsurface outlet for water. The only outlet is the atmosphere.
-
Sufficient rainfall in mountainous regions surrounding the basin.
-
• Dry (arid) climatic conditions at the playa with high potential evaporation
