Summary
A new endoscopic tool for the CRW (Cosman-Roberts-Wells) system is presented. The endoscope was designed and manufactured for neurosurgical needs. It has a special optical bundle with an image close to rod-lens quality without forfeiting the flexibility of a fiberscope. The camera can be positioned to the nonsterile area in the operating theatre. The optical and light bundles leave the operation field within the same cable. The outer diameter is 4.5 mm and small enough for the endoscope to traverse the foramen of Monro at occlusive hydrocephalus. Further tools such as multifunctional instruments are presented.
