The effectiveness of the current active labour market programmes (ALMPs) in Poland has been the subject of inquiry in this study. The main focus has lain on training programmes, subsidised employment (intervention works), and direct job creation (public works). As the main purpose of these programmes is to reintegrate the unemployed into the labour market, we have investigated the effects of ALMPs in terms of re-employment chances. A variety of approaches have been applied which are known from the empirical evaluation literature. These include both macro- and microeconometric models.
