Zusammenfassung
Unter Anwendungssystemen sollen hier solche Informations- und Kommunikationssysteme (IuK-Systeme) verstanden werden, die auf bestimmte betriebswirtschaftliche Anwendungsfelder und dort zu lösende Probleme ausgerichtet sind. Eine grobe Klassifikation unterteilt ihr Einsatzfeld schwerpunktmäßig entsprechend Informationsbeschaffung, Informationsverarbeitung und Informationsweiterleitung. Dabei dienen IuK-Systeme zur Informationsbeschaffung und -weiterleitung überwiegend der Problembeschreibung und IuK-Systeme zur Informationsverarbeitung der Problemlösung. Beispiele für die verschiedenen Systemarten sind Datenbanksysteme, Expertensysteme, Decision-Support-Systeme, Management-Information-Systeme, Executive-Information-Systeme, Executive-Support-Systeme, Groupware-Systeme und Workflow-Systeme.
