Uranium Cold Fragmentation by Thermal and Fast Neutrons

Nuclear Data for Science and Technology

Abstract

Mass-energy spectra of 235U cold fragmentation induced by thermal-and fast (En= 1 MeV) neutrons were obtained. Effect of the conservation of fissile nucleus excitation energy collected in the saddle point up to scission point was observed. It means that for Z-even target irradiated by thermal neutrons it is impossible to reach the region of true-cold-fragmentation.
