Zusammenfassung
Das Syndrom der polyzystischen Ovarien ist den Gynäkologen bekannt, es wird aber nur selten als Ursache für entzündliche Akne bei Frauen angesehen. Eine Vielzahl klinischer und endokrinologischer Befunde weist auf diese Erkrankung hin: Mensesunregelmäßigkeiten, Seborrhö, Hirsutismus, Fettleibigkeit sowie erhöhte Plasmakonzentrationen an LH und Testosteron bei normalen Konzentrationen an FSH. In manchen Fällen besteht eine Hyperprolaktinämie. Der Androgenüberschuß schwankt von Studie zu Studie und kann nicht ohne weiteres für die Akne verantwortlich gemacht werden, zumal er nicht immer mit der Schwere der Erkrankung korreliert. Die Ätiologie der polyzystischen Ovarien und des Syndroms der polyzystischen Ovarien ist unbekannt.
