Summary
Nowadays, companies are forced to carry out a great variety of tasks within a short period of time. Neither a pure cost orientation nor an isolated tie with ISO 9000 leads to success. There is a need for a corporate strategy to achieve higher efficiency which must go hand in hand with the implementation of Total Quality Management into the corporate strategy. This comprises a new definition of structures and processes, the satisfaction of customer needs, etc. Despite the efforts towards smaller units a company should make use of the advantages of size which leads to a division into three of the organisational design. TQM ist essential with respect to a constant orientation towards the environment and customers’ needs.
