Abstract
Orthostatic hypotension is a common syndrome in elderly populations, with prevalence rates varying from 4 to 33%, depending upon the methods used for detection and the groups being studied. Prevalence rates are high in selected patients that are referred to a clinic for evaluation of syncope or dizziness, and are lower in population-based studies of ambulatory elderly people [1, 3].
