Zusammenfassung
Zahlreiche Insektenarten können durch Stich beim Menschen toxische oder allergische Reaktionen auslösen. In Mitteleuropa werden bedrohliche Reaktionen ganz überwiegend durch Honigbienen (Apis mellifera; im folgenden als Biene bezeichnet) oder bestimmte Faltenwespen (Vespula vulgaris, Vespula germanica; im folgenden als Wespen bezeichnet) verursacht. Selten sind solche Stichreaktionen durch andere Hymenopteren wie Hummeln (Bombus spp.), Hornissen (Vespa crabro), Dolichovespula spp. oder Ameisen (Formicidae) ausgelöst. In Einzelfällen kommen schwerere Reaktionen auch nach Stichen anderer Insekten (beispielsweise Mücken oder Bremsen) vor.
