Zusammenfassung

Die progressive Entwicklung stabilisierender Operationen an der Wirbelsäule in den vergangenen zwei Dekaden wäre ohne den Einsatz von Pedikelschrauben nicht denkbar gewesen. Andererseits löst die weltweit zunehmende Nutzung alloplastischer Implantate bis heute eine Vielzahl von Diskussionen aus. So wird neben den hohen Kosten und den damit verbundenen wirtschaftlichen Interessen immer wieder auf die Komplikationsraten bei transpedikulären Fusionsoperationen verwiesen.
