Zusammenfassung

Distale Humerusfrakturen sind seit ihrer literarischen Erstbeschreibung durch Desault (1811) nach wie vor eine anspruchsvolle Herausforderung für den behandelnden Arzt. Dies widerspiegelt sich nicht zuletzt in der Tatsache, dass sie mit einer Häufigkeit von bis zu 40% als offene Frakturen auftreten, in 45% der Fälle mit Begleitverletzungen einhergehen und bis zu ein Viertel der Patienten gleichzeitig polytraumatisiert sind.
