Zusammenfassung
Die Alamannen sind ein germanischer Stamm, der zu den so genannten Elbgermanen gerechnet wird. Sie wanderten um 200 n. Chr. nach Südwestdeutschland, wurden von den Römern 213 zum ersten Mal schriftlich erwähnt und waren am Fall des Limes maßgeblich beteiligt. Ihr Herrschaftsbereich reichte um 450 n. Chr. vom Main bis in die nördliche Schweiz. Nach Auseinandersetzungen mit den Franken ging der nördliche Teil verloren. Danach folgten keine kriegerischen Aktivitäten mit den Nachbarstämmen.
