Zusammenfassung

Genetisch epidemiologische Untersuchungen, d.h. Familienstudien, Adoptionsstudien und Zwillingsstudien haben in den letzten Jahrzehnten überzeugend nahegelegt, dass bei den großen psychiatrischen Störungsbildern (Schizophrenien, Depressionen, bipolaren Erkrankungen, Angsterkrankungen und Suchterkrankungen), aber auch weiteren neuropsychiatrischen Störungen, wie z.B. der Narkolepsie, in unterschiedlichem Ausmaß genetische Faktoren kausal an der Entstehung des jeweiligen Phänotyps beteiligt sind.
